The Writing Zone!

Welcome! We've got silly stories, spooky poems and occasional essays ^_^ I hope you find something you like!
I write a lot but I seldom ever finish anything, so that's why there's not much here.

f

We've got a couple rules around here, though:

I also just really love writing in a plain text editor, which obviously lacks any sort of spellchecker, so there might be a few typos that I haven't noticed ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ

Original Fiction

15.10.2025・4,369 wordsLeaving it to Boil for Hours and Hours
Written for a school assignment. Cutting-edge receptionist robot Jen and ancient mining robot Hue must join forces to prevent a cataclysmic explosion that the rest of the city just wants to pray away. A story about tech obsolescence, religion, and robot girls being mean to each other in a gay way ^_^
30.04.2024・499 wordsAxel Hates My Red Gloves
Short little story I wrote for a school contest (though never submitted) about two dudes who hate rugby and love weird fashion. It's also sort of a mishmash of little things I've experienced living in South Westland over the last few years. PDF has some cute illustrations :)
02.2024・405 wordsDusk's Theories Of Lunar Energy, Electricity, Lights
And Your Place In The Universe
Another short story written for a school contest, which also went unsubmitted. I've always been interested in how people, believing in wacky stuff like this, seem to think the world works. I still think the "angels as electricity" concept is really clever!
2024・30,728 words・incompleteSpring Symphony
A very self-indulgent (and pretty bad) story that I would work on whenever I needed a bit of an escape from real life. As such, the characters kinda feel like friends of mine, in a way. It's all about forming a community through a shared love of fashion and music (and also everyone in this story is gay). Chapters are titled alphabetically, and I had plans to do an illustration for each one!
14.12.2023・642 wordsStraenr Counselling
A prologue thing I wrote for Spring Symphony about Coffee's homophobic and just generally abusive mother going to counselling LMAO! It's not great, but it presents another side to Coffee's story that I've never shared before.
2023・5,511 wordsMarshmallow Adventures #1
The first part in a (planned, but ultimately scrapped,) complicated and long-running series about aliens and friendship. It's a bit rough, but my main goal here was just making everything cute and sweet. I like writing as a form of escapism, could you tell?

Fanfiction

(It's mostly Sonic stuff!)

02.02.2025・504 words・JSRWhen The Cat Gets Scratched
My first Jet Set Radio fic! There aren't very many out there, haha. Just Gum taking care of Mew after she gets hurt :) Couldn't think of a great title, sorry. I did some art for this fic, too!
29.04.2024・1,390 words・STHA Guiding Light (But It's Not Who You Think It Is)
Amy chats with an old friend on Angel Island! I've been wanting to write something with Tikal for a while, and while this doesn't really make much sense when you think about it, I still think it's fun. She's an interesting character!
14.04.2024・2,477 words・Sonic UndergroundHot-Pink Hairdo
Probably the most esoteric I'll ever get with one of these! Bi trans Sonia the Hedgehog gets a haircut from Doo-Bot, who gives her some advice on how to get closer to a girl she likes! I'm still very happy with how this turned out :) Here's some art of Sonia and Mindy on their first date <3
04.2024・495 words・STHSILVERZ SPACE!!
Silver shows Espio his hand-coded website! Since Silver seems like the type of guy to make his own little website, idk. I love these two ^_^
2023・3,137 words・STH (Classic)・incompleteCompact Disk Chronicles
Amy Rose, and new friend Dot the Grizzly, investigate a strange Metal Sonic prototype that's been causing mayhem on Little Planet! A fic I wrote before I actually started reading fanfics, so it's sort of strange. Takes place right after Sonic CD, and I took a lot of inspiration from the IDW classic one-shots. Also I think it's actually spelled "disc"!

Essays & Articles

(Not much here at the moment!)

28.05.2025・550 wordsMinding Your Own Business, or, "awnser the question"
I recount and explain a very strange interaction I had right before shutting down my chatbox in 2022. To my knowledge, I haven't talked about this publicly before, but I think about it CONSTANTLY, so here you go!
02.05.2025・774 wordsSpotting Video Games Featuring AI-Generated Images
A little guide I wrote up in one afternoon, just in case anyone out there might benefit from it ^_^ Crazy how formulaic these types of games are... Makes it very easy to write about them!
11.2023・1,324 words(Personal Response) How The Future Began: Communications
Personal response for Anthony Wilson's 1999 book How The Future Began: Communications, written for school. I wrote six of these, though this one, and the one I wrote for Sonic Underground, are the only two that I'm still happy with! The original book is hilarious and confusing and sad and so, so hopeful. It comes very recommended.
In relation to the end of this essay, I need to state that I was, and still am, against AI. I was just trying to find another bizarre claim that the book makes. Sorry for any confusion!
11.2023・1,604 words(Personal Response) Sonic Underground
Personal response for DiC and Sega of America's 1999 cartoon Sonic Underground, written for school. I got an Excellence for this thing, despite the show not being for the appropriate age level required for the assessment, and it helped me get into NCEA Level 1 a whole year early! Thanks, Sonic Underground! Not a great essay, but I just love talking about this show in-depth, because it just shouldn't exist and nobody cares about it. I do, though :)
Y'all know that I did technically read, like, one or two Sonic fanfics prior to writing this? So I told a lie in this essay.

Poems

23.10.2024wound
Trauma SUCKS, bro. This isn't super original, but who cares. It's important to me.
29.09.2024a community effort
Expresses some very specific stuff I was feeling at the time. I considered submitting this for a school writing competition, but it was a little too late at that point.
2024quiet girl
Inspired by this Tumblr post. It's kinda like the FLCL thing, where you use only loosely-connected things to describe a feeling that's hard to articulate.
2023powering down
Kinda sucks. I don't even know what it's about! But it's more about feeling than meaning.
2023your cries
Written about an ex-friend :( I like pretty clouds.
2023a wind chime calls
I used to LOVE these kinds of subtle metaphors. I had the image of my great-grandparents' house in mind while writing this.
2022my chamber, my hour of shame, the glorious gods
There's a thin line between "the coolest thing you've ever heard in your entire life" and "hecking cringe", and I think this poem is doing some sort of bizarre dance routine where it freely jumps from one side to the other in quick succession. Inspired by Japanese avant-garde artist After Dinner.
2022my magic wand
Say what you want. I still think this thing is awesome. "Polished like a glorious sword"?? Come on, man! It's inspired by some animation I saw on YouTube which later went unlisted because it was a bit too violent :)
